The science behind the spray

Precision farming is not marketing speak. Here is the real reason drone application uses less water, drifts less and protects your soil, in plain English.

Worth more than it costs

A drone pass can cost more per acre than a ground rig, and we will always be straight with you about that. What you are really paying for is what comes off the field at the end of the season. Here is where the value shows up.

Grow more from the same ground

Getting product exactly where it is needed, at exactly the right moment, is one of the biggest levers on final yield and crop quality. Because the drone flies even when the ground is too wet for a tractor, you catch the growth window that a delayed pass would miss.

Spend less on inputs

Precision placement means less product wasted on headlands, overlaps and low-potential ground. Studies of variable-rate application typically report around 15 to 30% less fertiliser used for the same or better result, so some of the fee pays for itself in what you no longer over-apply.

Protect the ground you farm

No wheelings, no tramline damage, no compaction. Heavy machinery quietly costs yield in the wettest, most vulnerable parts of the field, and again the following season. Nothing heavy ever touches your soil with a drone.

Our aim is simple: grow you a better crop and a better return, not just be the cheapest pass in the field. When we map your fields as well, we can target inputs where they actually pay, so every pound works harder.

Droplet size, measured in microns

A micron is a thousandth of a millimetre, and droplet size is where precision spraying is won or lost. Our drone uses rotary atomiser nozzles that spin the liquid into a tight, controlled band of droplets, typically around 130 to 250 microns and adjustable for the job.

Conventional flat-fan booms throw a much wider spread: very fine droplets that drift away on the breeze, and coarse ones that run off the leaf. A tight, uniform droplet band means more product stays on the crop, with less waste and less drift.

Why we use far less water

Because each droplet is placed precisely, we do not need to flood the crop to get coverage. That is the whole reason drone application uses a fraction of the water.

That is up to around 90% less water per hectare. Less water carted to the field, fewer refills, less time, and a lighter footprint on your farm.

Less drift, better canopy coverage

Three things work together to cut spray drift: a uniform droplet size with fewer driftable fines, flying low and close to the canopy, and the downwash from the rotors, which pushes product down into the crop rather than letting it hang in the air. The result is better coverage on the plant and less drift onto hedgerows, margins and waterways.

Centimetre precision, zero compaction

RTK GPS holds each pass to within centimetres, so coverage is even and repeatable with no missed strips or double-dosing.
