James grew up in Cornwall, surrounded by farms and farmers, and that upbringing has directly shaped his vision for HarvestHawk. Before founding the business, James served nine years as a police officer, seven years full-time and two as a Special Constable, currently serving in Hertfordshire.
Policing instilled qualities that translate directly into agricultural drone operations: punctuality, meticulous preparation, clear communication, calm decision-making under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job right.
As the business's trained drone pilot and lead operator, James is completing all required regulatory qualifications, including the GVC and CAA Operational Authorisation (SORA), both expected by the end of August 2026, along with his PA1/PA6 pesticide application certificates. He is responsible for strategy, operations, regulatory compliance, service delivery, client relationships, and the long-term growth of the business.
Phil has spent his entire life in the South West and brings a grounded, practical understanding of rural business to HarvestHawk. Growing up, he worked on working farms, developing an authentic appreciation for the demands of agricultural life.
In his career, Phil ran a successful pub in North Cornwall, built expertise in the fibre cable telecoms industry, and more recently established his own gardening business serving clients across North Cornwall. This breadth of experience, spanning physical trades, customer relationships, financial management, and business ownership, provides HarvestHawk with a resilient operational and commercial foundation.
As Director, Phil provides strategic direction, operational governance, and grounds the business in the realities of rural client relationships.
Dawn brings a lifetime of experience in family business and financial administration to HarvestHawk. She began her business career supporting her father's printing company, gaining early insight into operations, customer service, and business processes.
Dawn later managed and co-ran pubs in North Cornwall, developing strong capabilities in bookkeeping, stock management, compliance, and staff coordination. She currently works as a professional stock-taker in the hospitality sector, a role requiring precision, financial accountability, and management of high-value inventory under commercial pressure.
Dawn oversees the administrative and financial management functions of HarvestHawk, including invoicing, booking coordination, record keeping, and compliance documentation.
